Welcome to Joseph Clarke Photography! I am a photographer based in Sheffield, focused on live music, weddings and pet portraiture. Whether it is snaking through a jostling crowd at a concert, capturing the subtle moments of joy at a wedding, or even the cheeky tail wagging spaniel that just won’t sit still, being behind a camera is where I feel most at home!

Back in 2004 as a 13 year old, I experienced a life changing moment; floating across the corridor from my brothers room was a sound I’d never heard before - a droning guitar riff and a wailing siren split the air. As I approached and opened his door, it stopped, a high hat quietly kept the beat and the silence was shattered by 5 words that changed the music world, and mine, forever. “Generals gathered in their masses!” I had just encountered my first experience of Black Sabbath, and, safe to say, I was hooked.
Fast forward 2 years and I was attending my first gig, Red Hot Chili Peppers at Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield. The experience was like nothing I had felt before and, safe to say, I have never looked back. From there to AC/DC in Australia, all the way to Iron Maiden in Los Angeles, I have travelled the world watching shows and singing my heart out!
While at school I studied photography before realising my passion and studying it full time at University where I achieved a 2:1. During this time, I immersed myself in the local music scene, shooting bands and honing my craft in the hectic low light environment that only a rock bar can provide. Being autistic, I found this environment really helped me overcome my initial shyness in networking and liaising with people, which led me to have the opportunity to shoot some of my other favourite bands, including Reverend and the Makers and even a member of the Rock n Roll legends, Guns n Roses.
After spending 3 years backpacking around Australia and New Zealand I returned to Sheffield in 2018 looking to pursue my dream of turning my passion for photography into a full time career. I was given the opportunity to photograph a friend’s wedding and realised my passion wasn’t only confined to flashing lights and jumping crowds. Capturing small moments of joy and love was something I felt privileged to experience, and being able to provide couples with everlasting memories of their special day is something that means a lot to me. Any day I have a camera in my hands is a good day!
